Why Is Red Light Therapy Better Than Other Options?

It’s a New Year — Jump-start your health! If you are considering Surgery or Invasive Procedures, here is something you should highly consider. There is a safer option that requires no surgery or downtime.

What Is Red Light Therapy?

Red Light Therapy (RLT) is a therapy treatment that has been shown to help with weight loss and treat skin conditions using low wavelength red light. The treatment has been shown to diminishes the appearance of scars, blemishes, fine lines, and reducing loose skin by tightening the skin and shrinking fat cells.

Red light therapy relaxes sore muscles and causes slow-healing wounds to heal faster. You may also enjoy pain relief when you subject your joints and muscles to the red light.

How It Works

The RLT treatment works by exposing your skin to low wavelength red light. Your naked eyes cannot see this light, but your skin cells perceive it as heat.

The light source has to have the proper radiance, irradiance, power output, and other important factors in order to produce the proper and effective dose of red light. Your mitochondria soak up the heat energy and use it as a jump start in their energy production. Experts say that this activation motivates the cells to repair themselves, spurring healing in muscles and skin.

In general, RLT has been shown to increase the production of collagen in the skin. Collagen restores the skin’s elasticity. The light also increases fibroblast production, which also increases collagen production. The light does not expose your skin to any harmful rays.

RLT Is Better Than Any Surgical Procedure

RLT has been around since the 90’s but in the past 5-10 years, it has become a preferred choice of treatment designed to replace traditional surgical procedures. Technology, medical research, and knowledge are continually advancing to bring more straightforward solutions. Traditionally, you would need a combination of procedures to get your intended results. For example, to address sagging, wrinkling, and pigmentation issues, you would have a facelift, dermal fillers, chemical peels, and others. Each procedure would address a portion of the larger problem. But, RLT treatment has been shown to address all these issues in one treatment procedure.

Another problem with surgical procedures is that they are invasive and painful. They also require downtime before you can resume your everyday life, which means that if you are still working, you may have to take time off of work which translates to loss of income,  you may not be able to provide for your family effectively, and so on.  They are also quite risky and can be costly. After going through all this, you are not even guaranteed to like the outcome.

Conversely, RLT is non-invasive. You don’t feel any pain, no need to take medications nor injections, and you certainly don’t need any time off. You can resume your duties right after the procedure. RLT is also relatively inexpensive compared to other procedures.

Also, unlike other treatments like laser and intense pulsed light, RLT does not damage the surface of your skin. The latter works by destroying the epidermis, thereby inducing tissue repair. But, RLT skips the harsh treatment and induces regeneration directly.

RLT also goes deep inside the skin tissue. It stimulates regeneration for cells up to 5 millimeters below the skin surface, where the light reaches.

What to Expect

Red light therapy could have an incredible effect on your skin and health. It may improve the tone and texture of your skin significantly. RLT has been shown time and time again to improve complexion, smoother skin, and the reduction in the appearance of wrinkles, fine lines, and pigmentations. Overall, RLT treatment promotes deep recovery of the skin and restores its health.
